International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) Summit 2026

The International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) is a treaty-based intergovernmental international organization established to strengthen global cooperation for the conservation of big cats and their habitats. It focuses on collective action, knowledge sharing, capacity building, and sustainable financing to ensure the long-term survival of big cat species worldwide.

The IBCA Summit 2026 is a high-level international conference convened by India under the aegis of the Government of India and the International Big Cat Alliance. It brings together member and observer countries, range countries, partner organizations, experts, and key stakeholders. The Summit aims to set future conservation priorities, showcase best practices, and strengthen global collaboration for big cat conservation.

Big cats play a critical role in maintaining ecosystem balance. However, they face increasing threats from habitat loss, human wildlife interface, sustainable finance and climate change. The IBCA Summit 2026 provides a global forum to:

  • Adopt a global declaration on big cat conservation.
  • Strengthen global cooperation on big cat conservation.
  • Showcase best practices and innovations in science and knowledge networks for the management of big cats.
  • Promote policy and institutional synergy in habitat conservation.
  • Catalyse community engagement in the protection and conservation of big cats.
  • Mobilize resources and partnerships for wildlife conservation.
  • Evolve strategies to promote human–wildlife coexistence.

IBCA focuses on the conservation of 7 big cat species, including:.

  • Tiger
  • Lion
  • Leopard
  • Snow Leopard
  • Jaguar
  • Cheetah
  • Puma

Participation is limited to only nominated participants and members/observer country representatives . The participation is through invite only

The four themes include:

  • Management Principles for Big Cat Conservation and Challenges
  • Use of Technology in Protection, Conservation and Monitoring
  • Human Wildlife Interface and Community Participation
  • Sustainable Financing for Big Cat Conservation

The Summit will feature:

  • Technical session on Tiger Conservation
  • Technical session on Leopard Conservation
  • Technical session on Snow Leopard Conservation
  • Technical Session on Lion and Cheetah Conservation
  • Technical Session on Jaguar and Puma Conservation

Yes. The Summit will feature curated side events and exhibitions to showcase initiatives, best practices, technology, tribal art, photographs, videos, virtual reality experiences, and India’s achievements in big cat and biodiversity conservation.

  • Global Tiger Recovery Programme
  • Conservation Assured Tiger Standards
  • Dots and Stripes: Financing Pathways Standards for Big Cat Landscapes
  • Linear infrastructure
  • Bilateral meetings with range countries for collaboration
  • Synergizing Coexistence, Sustainable Economies, Ecosystem Valuation, and Participatory Monitoring across snow leopard landscapes

Exhibitions include:
